Project Description

Under a national-level solar mission, and innovative program has been devised and successfully implemented to solarize the pumps drawing groundwater for irrigation and combining it with implementation of drip irrigation techniques. This results in not only saving of diesel or petrol used conventionally for such pumps, but also conservation of water due to adoption of drip irrigation techniques.

Services Provided

The team was involved in working closely with the State level department to structure and roll-out a comprehensive program for implementation. The key services included:

Irrigation
    • Undertaking comprehensive cost-benefit analysis from the Government perspective as well as from farmers’ perspective to establish a clear business case for the program
    • Stakeholder consultation process
    • Contribute towards development of detailed guidelines for program implementation
    • Program testing through pilot implementation
    • Program roll-out and monitoring
