Project Description
Suez Canal Authority (SCA) governs the Suez Canal and all related areas like SEZs, manufacturing hubs and ports for logistics pertaining thereto. It aims to transform the area into a world-class global logistics hub and industrial processing center that serves the European, Asian, African and Gulf markets to facilitate economic growth and create sustainable and high quality jobs. As a part of measures to strengthen economic activity, it is envisaged to setup a dedicated industrial hub (Special Economic Zone) in Sokhna area along the Suez Canal to attract appropriate industries to set up their manufacturing facilities. The zone is envisaged to be developed and maintained under an appropriate PPP structure.

Services Provided
The team was involved in project screening by providing following services:

- Market Assessment – covering (a) the economic and financial rationale for companies to set up their Units in the SEZ; and (b) Preliminary demand assessment
Infrastructure Development Requirement – covering (a) expected requirement of infrastructure within the SEZ; (b) the expected phasing of the same and the block costs including costs for various clearances and approvals; and (c) preliminary financial analysis - Development Framework – covering proposed approach for (a) developing the SEZ and its phasing; (b) project structure and role of various stakeholders; and (c) project development costs and timelines
- Project Sponsors – covering potential developers for project implementation
- Market Assessment – covering (a) the economic and financial rationale for companies to set up their Units in the SEZ; and (b) Preliminary demand assessment
